Jul 2018 | Congratulations Beate!

Beate received a grant from the Austrian National Bank Anniversary Fund (Jubiläumsfonds der Österreichischen Nationalbank, ÖNB) to study fibroblast heterogeneity in human skin cancer. Congrats!

We will recruit a PhD student for this project soon, so visit our website again!

Apr 2018 | Congratulations Kif!

Beate is proud that Kif, the PhD student she supervised while she was a PostDoc in the Wattlab, published his study in Nature:

An evolutionarily conserved ribosome-rescue pathway maintains epidermal homeostasis.
Liakath-Ali et al. Nature. 2018 Apr;556(7701):376-380. doi:10.1038/s41586-018-0032-3. Epub 2018 Apr11.

The paper about the role of Pelota in ribosome-rescue and skin homeostasis was highlighted in Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology. See → Nature Reviews Research Highlights

Oct 2017 | Ernst Klenk Symposium

The Ernst Klenk Symposium in Cologne was about ‘Tissue regeneration, wound healing and fibrosis – Translating basic concepts into regenerative therapy’ this year and included a fantastic program with a keynote lecture by Sabine Werner. See → Klenk Symposium 2017.

Beate had the opportunity to present some of our newest data about fibroblast heterogeneity in wound healing and fibrosis at the Post-Klenk Minisymposium ‘Next generation female leaders pushing epidermal-dermal crosstalk’.

Sept 2017 | Conferences

Beate attended the 9th ÖGMBT Annual Meeting 2017 & 8th Life Science Meeting Innsbruck about ‘Molecular & cellular mechanisms of human diseases’ and the 47th Annual Meeting of the European Society of Dermatological Research (ESDR) in Salzburg with an exciting line up of speakers.

At the ESDR, our collaborator Maria Kasper from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm was awarded with the LEO Foundation Gold Award for her exceptional advances within dermatology research, which were achieved by combining in vivo lineage tracing with single cell profiling.
